Arctic Expedition 20

New Year's Day 2014, nobody was getting up early today. When I finally staggered out of bed, I started downing glass after glass of water. Carin laughed at me, and asked, "Didn't you get enough to drink last night?" Ha ha, coffee and aspirin, stat!

  

The girls finally staggered in around 11 am, and laid around for awhile with even bigger hangovers.  Carin and Julie were determined to take the traditional Ny Ar dop (New Year Dip) in the sea, but the girls didn't seem able to drag themselves up.

finally, Josefine jumped up and said "OK, right now or we'll never do it".  So, we all jumped up and got ready....

 A very determined bunch, at 1 degree Celsius. 

And away they go!

 

The frenzy to get dried off and dressed in as many layers as possible commenced.  We had to get Jullyana warmed up...

She let loose a primal scream....maybe she conquered something bigger than cold water that day?

 then we all settled in for movies, Carin and Sally were watching 102 Dalmatians

The girls were watching Anastasia

 

Everyone fooled around with Josse's new hula hoop, and Jullyana attempted to work in the kitchen.

A crazy silly wonderful day. Hangovers and all.
